18 Jun Fathers Are Feeders & Feathers
“Being a father is a task of taking people farther in success and not just a title or status”
For this reason [seeing the greatness of this plan by which you are built together in Christ], I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, For Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named [that Father from Whom all fatherhood takes its title and derives its name].May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].
The word father or fatherhood is a word that has been abused like the word love because most people don’t really understand what it means. Having a wife, children, houses, work and so on doesn’t make you a father. They can of course change your status as it were; this is simply because they are virtues and characteristics that describe who a father really is.
Like going to a medical school doesn’t make you a doctor until you are qualified with the necessary skills and attributes required to really attend to people’s health issues. That is why there are several malpractices in the health sector resulting in several loss of lives and damages to people’s health. In the same vein, a lot of lives have been affected negatively by some men who assumed the position of fathers without possessing the basic virtues which qualify people to become real fathers.
From the above mentioned scriptures that describe God as our Father, these clearly state that what qualifies God to be the father of fathers is that He strengthens people to fulfill their dreams. Abraham was married, had wealth and advanced in years, yet God didn’t declare him a father until some attributes were cultivated and developed in Him.
And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham [My friend and servant] what I am going to do, [Gal. 3:8.] Since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed through him and shall bless themselves by him? [Gen. 12:2-3.] For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may bring Abraham what He has promised him. Genesis 18:17-19 AMPC.
A MAJOR ATTRIBUTE OF REAL FATHERS is FRIENDLINESS
God said that Abraham was His friend, meaning that he had a solid relationship with God. He grew his fellowship with God to the state of friendship. That quality also made him friendly and very generous to other people. This is a basic fatherhood quality that most men underestimate in relationship with their spouses, children and others. Without a good grasp of friendship in relationships, there won’t be wisdom to overcome hardships and challenges.
Friends love through all kinds of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.
Proverbs 17:17 MSG.
A friend is loving at all times, and becomes a brother in times of trouble.
BBE Prov 17:17
When you understand the power of friendship as a man it will help you to forgive and overlook offenses even when they are painful and grievous.
