Fathers are real leaders because they are ladders that generations climb on to reach their goals” RSD
“With each of you we were like a father with his child, holding your hand, whispering encouragement, showing you step-by-step how to live well before God, who called us into his own kingdom, into this delightful life.
1 Thessalonians 2:9-12 MSG
There is little doubt about the important role that fathers play in our world. Simply put fathers can be described as managers. They manage the family helping the family to remain rooted to certain values and principles. The role of fathers in families mainly lie on the establishment of the family as a recognized unit of society. Hence fathers help to shape the society at large
Looking at the word manager we will realize that it started with the word ‘man’. This implies that being male is a serious responsibility and not just a mere gender identity. Hence, fatherhood is much more than being able to have intimate relationship with a woman and producing a child.
When God created the first man, He gave him a very serious responsibility to manage all his creations with the woman too. This implies a real father is someone that is willing to ensure that people, places, properties are properly managed so that they can exhibit their full potential.
Paul the Apostle didn’t have biological children because he didn’t have a wife due to his personal decision coupled with the enormity of the great trials he experienced while carrying out his responsibility, but he was able to provide a fatherly role to several lives. Till date and eternity his works will continue to impact lives globally.
When Abraham exceptionally exhibited the principles of fatherhood by ensuring that his Children had good relationship with God, his fatherhood title was even recognised in heaven in the story of Lazarus and the rich man.
This little piece was inspired by God to really appreciate the value of fathers in our world , and to serve as a clarion call to all Men to really prepare for the huge responsibility of being called by God to model for all the people that we are privileged to influence either in our families, place of work, school, state and the world at large. Like Isaac Newton said “ If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants”.
Fatherhood is worth being celebrated beyond a season. Hence, connecting with Christ is very important as through His sacrifice He modeled fatherhood and remains our biggest motivation.
Fathers are the giants that encourages others to take giant strides in life. RSD
